Research as Practice: Research Journal Drop In In-Person

A research journal is a special site for the life of the mind. In 1978 Bernadette Mayer created a list of possible journals for one to experiment for their record keeping and reflection. In the Arcades Project, Walter Benjamin's unfinished history of 19th century Paris arranged in notebooks and thematic "convolutes", Benjamin's research and thinking process is illustrated.

Research is a practice of finding, thinking, connecting, and starting again from scratch. Your thinking is a valuable tool that produces a heiroglyphic of interests and things only you can see and gets lost too quickly. This drop in session is a opportunity to write, diagram, practice, and revisit and build on your thinking, while giving you a chance to get to know your thinking and take it futher.

Come whenever, leave whenever.
Research that transcends the classroom welcome.
