SUMMARY:Introduction to Field Recording
DESCRIPTION:What (social) information gets transmitted by sound? What is a
soundscape\, or a soundmark and what can close listening (and recording)
tell us about the world we live in? \n\nTo answer these questions\, in this
workshop we'll go over the basics of using a field recorder and then go on
a soundwalk to practice. This workshop is inspired by Pauline Oliveros
Annea Lockwood\, and Ultra-Red\, looking to both sounds from the natural
world as well as sounds from people and the built environment.
\n\nRecorders and headphones provided but smartphones and personal\, wired
headphones\, also encouraged. Groups of two or three invited to do some
 advanced recording with microphones.\n\n
